Into the Fire is the most recently released book by Irene Hannon, one of my all-time favorite suspense authors.

Prologue Opening Lines:
FIRE WAS CLEANSING. SACRIFICIAL, ALMOST.
And soon . . . very soon . . . the flames would come.
But first, my souvenir.
That opening really grabbed my attention and told me right away that this is a first-person account of a killer, likely a serial killer that loves fire, who's about to do something bad, really bad . . . Such a creepy scene!

Chapter One Opening Line:
ARSON INVESTIGATORS WEREN'T SUPPOSED TO DIE IN FIRES.
The first chapter shifts to a third-person perspective, five months after the prologue scene, now following the investigation of a very suspicious house fire in which an experienced arson investigator was killed . . .  Great intro! I'M HOOKED and will be posting my full review of this book on Goodreads as soon as I finish reading it.

I received a free copy of this book from Revell, which I am SO grateful for, and these are my honest thoughts.

"SHADOWS AT DUSK" BY ELIZABETH GODDARD - NEW RELEASE

Note: I do not like seeing identifiable people on book covers, especially faces.

"Shadows at Dusk" by Elizabeth Goddard

🔍Book Blurb:
Montana Detective Trevor West is desperate to learn what happened to his sister, who went missing in Alaska over a year ago, leaving nothing but a few photographs as clues to her whereabouts. At the advice of Police Chief Autumn Long, Trevor enlists the help of an experienced bush pilot. If Carrie James can't help him find the places in the photographs, no one can.

But Carrie has her own agenda. Grieving the death of her closest friend and the only person she could trust, Carrie will help Trevor find his sister on one condition--that he help her track down her friend's killer.

As the two close in on the answers they crave, they'll face dangers and connections they could not have imagined. They'll have to learn to trust one another--and face the dark secrets of the past--if they are ever to discover the truth and bring a killer to justice.

Shadows at Dusk is Elizabeth Goddard's newest book, released just last month (October, 2023). This is the second book in the Missing in Alaska series. I've been a big fan of this author since reading her Uncommon Justice trilogy in 2020, which I really loved! I highly recommend reading anything by this author if you like clean romantic suspense.

Now, it's time to do a bit of reading . . .

Prologue Opening Lines:
The old cargo plane vibrated as the pilate descended into the airdrop zone, the turbulence shuddering through Carrie James. She braced herself on a bench a few feet from the secured freightemergency supplies that could mean the difference between life and death in a food-starved, war-torn country.
