"SHADOWS AT DUSK" BY ELIZABETH GODDARD - NEW RELEASE

Note: I do not like seeing identifiable people on book covers, especially faces.

"Shadows at Dusk" by Elizabeth Goddard

🔍Book Blurb:
Montana Detective Trevor West is desperate to learn what happened to his sister, who went missing in Alaska over a year ago, leaving nothing but a few photographs as clues to her whereabouts. At the advice of Police Chief Autumn Long, Trevor enlists the help of an experienced bush pilot. If Carrie James can't help him find the places in the photographs, no one can.

But Carrie has her own agenda. Grieving the death of her closest friend and the only person she could trust, Carrie will help Trevor find his sister on one condition--that he help her track down her friend's killer.

As the two close in on the answers they crave, they'll face dangers and connections they could not have imagined. They'll have to learn to trust one another--and face the dark secrets of the past--if they are ever to discover the truth and bring a killer to justice.
The book blurb and cover seen above came from Amazon.com, where you can sample the first 4+ chapters.

Shadows at Dusk is Elizabeth Goddard's newest book, released just last month (October, 2023). This is the second book in the Missing in Alaska series. I've been a big fan of this author since reading her Uncommon Justice trilogy in 2020, which I really loved! I highly recommend reading anything by this author if you like clean romantic suspense.

Now, it's time to do a bit of reading . . .

Prologue Opening Lines:
The old cargo plane vibrated as the pilate descended into the airdrop zone, the turbulence shuddering through Carrie James. She braced herself on a bench a few feet from the secured freightemergency supplies that could mean the difference between life and death in a food-starved, war-torn country.
This scene takes place in the airspace over Zhugandia, East Africa, and a humanitarian plane is getting ready to land. While the plane is still in the sky on its way to its destination, a major betrayal is revealed and someone gets pushed out of the plane. Reading on . . .

Chapter One Opening Lines:
Detective Trevor West wrestled with the foregone truth. When someone went missing, the first forty-eight hours were vital.
This is ten years after the prologue scene, now in the Alaska Panhandle, where we meet Detective Trevor West. He's just arrived from his home in Montana to investigate some new leads on a year-long missing person's case that's very personal to him.

Okay . . . This story gets much more interesting in Chapter Two . . . and Chapter Three . . . There are a lot of mysteries going on, with little bread crumbs throughout that I can't help but keep following. I'm now feeling invested in the two main characters and want to learn their fate. I'm also a sucker for books set in the wilderness of Alaska.

I'm having trouble putting this book down, however I prefer reading series books in order and want to read the book that comes before this one in its series and then return to this book. Once I finish it, I'll be posting my full review of Shadows at Dusk on Goodreads and other platforms.

Note: I received a free copy of this book from Revell, for which I am SO grateful, and these are my honest thoughts.
